Laid Bare By Lauren Dane Review – Oh, Ménage ‘A Me, Three’s Never a Crowd
15 Dec, 2009 in Erotic Romance 27 Comments
It’s been ten years since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan has a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn’t in the cards just yet.
Now his life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough in light of a painful event from Erin’s past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd’s best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed.
P.S. BDSM + Ménage+Tattoos+Piercings = A Happy K.C.
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: August 4, 2009 {336 pages}
Disclaimer: I purchased this book because of Fiction Vixen
Laid Bare stoked one of my top ten ultimate, naughtiest fantasies… a manwich! This book uncovers the journey of finding one’s own sense of sexual identity and embracing the aspects of your inner kink. So, to all those naughty little freak’s in sheep’s clothing this one’s for you! I say, it’s time to embrace your inner kink and let your freak flag fly.
Now, I might have exaggerated a bit about the emboldened sexuality of this book but I just couldn’t help myself. I too am waiting to ‘let my freak flag fly’ and felt this book encapsulated the journey of finding acceptance from within and learning to trust someone else with your innermost desires and thoughts. I don’t know if I would categorize this book as your typical BDSM, but oh, sweet nastiness, this book is steamin’ hot!!
Ms. Dane, you are a tease! Never before have I read an erotica book that enticed me to scream out more man love! Many books that feature a ménage a trio don’t venture down the path of male love, heck they don’t even hug it out afterwards. This book takes you above and beyond the typical threesome dynamic and catapults you into a new world of polyamorous love that really works.
Laid Bare is not your run of the mill steam-fest. Sure there’s plenty of passion and scenes that makes a person want to leap on top of Mr. Smokinhot and demand he rip off her imaginary fishnets, but the core of the story is in the how. How to make a relationship work with three people. Lauren Dane has me convinced that with enough communication, a willingness to be open and love, anything is possible…

@Pearl I can’t wait for Brody’s story in January!!
@Sparklybearsy I found myself saying “kiss himm kiss him” instead of kiss her O_o
@Mandi this book is like a pumpkin spice latte, a hint of male male romance. And yes I do own a freak flag *waves it around*
@ErotRomReader (Janna) even now just thinking about Laid Bare makes me want to call Mr. Smokin Hot for a “late lunch” *wink *wink*
@Patti right! *looks at Janna*
Oh girl so glad you liked it!! You seriously need to pre-order Coming Undone. Brody….mmmmm. Also if you liked this get Switch by Megan Hart. Omg so good!! Switch is available late dec I think or maybe early Jan.
And I’ll give you a hint: Erins hottie have some loving in Coming Undone *rawr*
@Fiction Vixen Coming Undone on my list!!!! Writes down Switch by Megan Hart. I will update my Goodreads post haste!
I’m saving myself for Cope… *sigh* Brody will to be surrogate and hold me over till November 2010 LOL
@Pearl *gasp* I don’t remember Cope is that the other brother?
*Raises VFG Freak Flag* Yes, I have one and I ain’t ashamed to admit it!
I’m always game for some kinky romance and I’ve read everywhere that LAID BARE has that in spades! Thank the Kink Gods that I have this one in my TBR with it’s sequel on pre-order. Nope, this kink-freak doesn’t mess around.
You gotta read yourself some Joey W. Hill Somkinhot. She can really get ones freak flag flying.
Great review. Thanks for the laughs and smiles!
Hugs, VFG
@VampFanGirl I hear that Joey W. Hill was more fantasy so I wasn’t sure if I would like her. VFG which Hill book should I start with?
Sounds like this is on a similar theme to the latest Lauren Dane in her Cascadia Wolves series, which I thought was great. And for someone like me who prefers their boys without girl germs that’s sayin’ something.
Hmmm. I might have to go shopping.
@Kris even though there is only a hit of male/male in Laid Bare, god damn it was hot.
Love your enthusiasm for this book! I wish I could bottle up some of it.
Great review!
@Donna Laid Bare is one of those books that left me with a smile on my face and a few “stares” at Mr. Smokin Hot *wink*
KC!!!!! *GASP* You don’t remember Cope??!?!? Shame on you…. (Yes, he’s Ben’s little brother, naughty, bad boy with a good heart, or so Lauren Dane says)
I must say Mr. Pearl appreciates me reading Lauren Dane a lot…He was very happy after both LAID BARE and UNDERCOVER. Let’s see what COMING UNDONE will bring him *wink*
@Pearl ROTFL!!!! I had just taken a sip of my latte while reading your comment. I won’t go into details but let’s just say Mr. Smokin Hot “likes” when I read a Lauren Dane book…A LOT! When Coming Undone comes out I’ll have to make sure Mr. Smokin Hot doesn’t have a head ache or something
Hmmm…which Joey Hill book to read first, that is the question. And a toughy one at that. All her novels are dark, intensely emotional and sinfully erotic.
If you enjoy dark fantasy with larger than life heroes, a good vs evil plot and steaming hot sex then Hill’s Daughters of Arianne series (angels & mermaids) is for you.
If you like your sex a little more eye-popping with female dominants and highly erotic BDSM scenes combined with a vampiric paranormal spin, then Hill’s Vampire Queen Series is for you.
If you like contemporaries, extreme BDSM with intense emotion and strong male & female dominants then Hill’s Nature of Desire series is for you.
Hopefully that’ll help with your decision. I know you wanted something morse specific and the best I can say to that is NATURAL LAW from the Nature of Desire series is excellent and a good place to start. Second, I’d recommend A MERMAID’S KISS from Hill’s Daughters of Arianne series. I can’t really recommend anything from the Vampire Queen series because I’ve only read only one book out of the four releases and book one isn’t for everyone.
Hugs,
VFG
@VFG I loved your Joey W. Hill Mermaid’s Kiss review and well, I have this thing about mermaids
Funny, in real life I’m a take charge type of person…in my alter life ie romance books I like the male to take charge. DO NOT REPEAT THIS TO MR. SMOKIN HOT!!!! Nature of Desire series sounds promising.
When you raved about it on Twitter, I thought, “Okay, on to the wishlist you go.” And when you wrote here “manwich” — okay, crap, I’m reading it NAO.
*off to harass Santa*
Okay, update — I now have a copy of the book. No, I didn’t skim it for the sex scenes. No. No, of course not.
Loved your review, Laid Bare and I have a date on January 1, 2010!
@Sasha You got it, LoL!!!! I’m so proud of you.
@Marissa It’ll be the best date you ever had, trust me *winks*
