I Spy Something Bloody by Josh Landon is a nice departure from his better-known work, the Adrian English series. This book reminded me a bit of the movie the Hurt Locker, only portraying what life might be like for someone coming back from being at war and trying to put the pieces of their life back together.
Mark is a spy for a non-government agency and has spent the last two years abroad witnessing various atrocities. Injured, he makes his way back to the only person who can offer him solace, Stephen Thorpe. Stephen has spent two years waiting for Mark to come home and has given up at ever having a chance to have a life with Mark. Stephen has tried to move on, only to have Mark show up at his doorstep, broken and in need. Can Stephen and Mark find enough forgiveness in each other, or is it too late?
This story was beautifully written and lent a more accurate portrayal of missed chances and opportunities. You won’t be disappointed! For anyone who’s ever loved someone and had to let him or her go, this one’s for you! (Don’t worry there’s a happy ending!). Anyway, I can’t say enough positive things about Josh Lanyon and I truly enjoy just how unique each of his stories are from each other. This author is incredibly versatile and writes some of the most heart-felt and action-packed stories I’ve read to date!! Oh yeah and he writes great man love ‘nough said.
