Kira’s (a psychic) been having steamy day dreams about her kidnapped mate and decides to rescue him. Lucas doesn’t know what to make of Kira when he first sees her all he knows is his animal and hormones definitely like her. Confused, Lucas doesn’t know who to trust and thinks Kira might have had a hand in his kidnapping.
Meanwhile Kira is slowly losing her mind, once one her kind meets their mate it triggers insanity unless claimed. She doesn’t have much time but she isn’t about to force a mating on Lucas even if it ends up killing her. It is also forbidden for Lucas to mate with someone outside his shapeshifter clan.
Most of my favorite quotes came from Kira a girl after my own heart:
Kira you know don’t you? You know that I’m your mate? (Lucas)
“I don’t care. We don’t even like each other. We can’t get along for five minutes unless we are having sex. Forget about it.”

My Thoughts:
There is a lot going on in Lucas maybe a bit too much for ole KC. I think I would have liked a bit more relationship tension build up between Kira and Lucas before they hit the sheets or in the case the woods… in his cell…oh and on a rock. I also thought the story seemed to suddenly jump at times and I was struggling to keep up (much like when I try and chase down the ice cream truck the other day). Despite some awkward pacing and dialogue I was still able to latch on and enjoy Lucas.
Final Verdict: Initially I had some trouble getting into Lucas I am glad I stuck with it because there were a few sexy surprises…like a dash of ménage kind of surprise (Kane Lucas’s brother). There was a bit of a twist with one the bad guys (hint his name is Malcolm) towards the end and no I’m not going to tell you what happened. These lips are sealed people!

Sounds like a lot is going on but a pretty steamy read. Um, curious about your thoughts on the next book coming up.
@Donna I think I would have liked less jumping around – other than that this was a pretty decent erotic read.

On a rock and a menage? Hmm…I might have to check this one out, even if it does have a lot of jumping around. Do you think the jumping around storyline wise had to do with it being the first book in a series?
@Colette I think the jumping around was the style of writing. Like two paragraphs from Kira POV then bam onto Lucas’s POV I would have preferred less jumpiness in that format. It cause me to loose the pace of the story. But I also was on sinus meds so….maybe I was just jumpy.
@Melissa I think the series has potential. I’m looking forward to the 2nd book with Kane sometimes I’ll end up liking the next book vs the first one. Gena Showalter is a great example.
