Smokinhotbooks  is still recovering (air quotes) from our procedure, xnay on the wax-ay.   We came across these upcoming releases and immediately grabbed our credit cards (holds card up high). Ready, set, here we go.

Wild Fire by Christine Feehan

Releases April 27, 2010 (Leopard Series)

Amazon Purchase Link

Although I recently broke up with the  Carpathians , I can’t let go of Feehan just yet.  I really enjoyed Burning Wild and hopefully Wild Fire will not disappoint.

Called on a dangerous assignment, leopard shifter Conner Vega returns to the Panama rainforest of his homeland, looking every bit the civilized male. But as a member of the most lethal of the shifter tribes, he doesn’t have a civilized bone in his body. He carries the scent of a wild animal in its prime, he bears the soul-crushing sins of past kills–and he’s branded by the scars of shame inflicted by the woman he betrayed.

Isabeau Chandler’s a Borneo shifter who’s never forgiven Conner–or forgotten him. The mating urge is still with her, and when she crosses Connor’s path, passions run like wild fire. But as Connor’s mission draws Isabeau closer, another betrayal lies waiting in the shadows–and it’s the most perilous and intimate one of all.

Beast Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston

Releases May 25 2010

Amazon Purchase Link

Shelly Laurenston is one of those authors that has the unique ability to make me snort out loud. Multiple times. This is Blayne’s story (remember she is the friend from Mane Squeeze ) and damn if I’m not drooling over this pretty cover.

Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can’t get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he’s shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is…

Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh

Releases July 6th 2010

Amazon Purchase Link

I’m liking the back tat.

Max Shannon is a good cop, one of the best in New York Enforcement. Born with a natural shield that protects him against Psy mental invasions, he knows he has little chance of advancement within the Psy-dominated power structure. The last case he expects to be assigned to is that of a murderer targeting a Psy Councilor’s closest advisors. And the last woman he expects to compel him in the most sensual of ways is a Psy on the verge of catastrophic mental fracture.

Demon From the Dark by Kresley Cole

I’ve been waiting for Carrow’s book since Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night. I’m so excited (see, I’ve got happy feet) this is releasing in the summer.

A maddening witch he aches to claim…

Carrow Graie: hiding her own sorrows, she lives only for the next party or prank. Until she meets a tortured warrior worth saving.

Trapped together in a savage prison…

For them to survive, Malkom must unleash both the demon and vampire inside him. When he becomes the nightmare his own people feared, will he lose the woman he craves body and soul?

Abandoned (Little Boy Lost #2 m/m)  by J.P. Barnaby

Releases Summer 2010

(since a cover has not been released yet, I took it upon myself to find a good stand in. I had to spend hours on my favorite website of all time rainonroof.tumblr.com.  Aren’t they purty?)

All of you are aware of how much I loved Enlightened – one of my favorite books of 2010 -  I’ve been vigorously checking Amazon and the author’s website for the 2nd book in this series. I believe it might be in August.

Alone. Exposed. In Danger.

Brian McAllister lost much more than his lover or his best friend when Jamie Mayfield left on a rainy afternoon in August.  He lost his security, his happiness, and nearly his life.  Fighting to get through his final year at Crayford High School, Brian learns valuable lessons about growing up and making the decisions that will have a shock wave effect through not only his life, but the lives of those closest to him.

Will he risk everything to find the boy that he loves?

After witnessing a mob hit, surgeon Jack Francisco is put into protective custody to keep him safe until he can testify. A hitman known only as D is blackmailed into killing Jack, but when he tracks him down, his weary conscience won’t allow him to murder an innocent man. Finding in each other an unlikely ally, Jack and D are soon on the run from shadowy enemies. Forced to work together to survive, the two men forge a bond that ripens into unexpected passion. Jack sees the wounded soul beneath D’s cold, detached exterior, and D finds in Jack the person who can help him reclaim the man he once was. As the day of Jack’s testimony approaches, he and D find themselves not only fighting for their lives… but also fighting for their future. A future together.

Smexybooks  recommended I read Zero and faster than you can say quick fire, I had it on my kindle. Seriously people run don’t walk to get this one. The blurb really doesn’t do it justice – I had so many bookmarks I wore my kindle nav’s button down to a nub. My only ho-hum was D’s dialogue, it takes a bit getting used to but worth it because this book is made of awesome.

Fav Quote:

D drew back and took Jack’s face in his hands. “I’ll find you. You hear me? I’ll find you.”

“H…how long?”

“I dunno. Could be years.”

Jack met his eyes.”I’ll wait.”

Excerpt

Jack drew back a little and looked into D’s face, flushed and sweaty, his eyes lowered. Jack felt himself hardening. Oh Jesus, get out. Just get out. He can’t see you like this. He probably won’t remember…just don’t let him see…

D’s eyes flicked up to meet his, wide and surprised like Jack had never seen them, the pulse visible in D’s throat, quick and fluttering, Jack could smell the sharp tang of D’s sweat and feel his muscles taut and thrumming beneath his hands; he held D’s gaze, eyes side-lit by the blog from the living room, and saw there something raw and scrubbed blank by time and neglect, creaking to life and crawling out of the darkness.

Jack would never know how he’d let himself do it, but without lowering his eyes he took his hand from D’s shoulder and slit it down between his legs. D hissed and flinched, his eyes slamming shut. Jack felt D hard beneath his hand He leaned his forehead against D’s again. “You feel it,” he whispered, barely breathed, now really a question.

His hands went on their own to his belt buckle and fumbled it open. D’s hand were on his neck now, gripping, and squeezing it, kneading the dam skin. Jack heard him suck in a breath and his it out, and then suddenly he seized Jack’s shoulders and turned him toward the bed, onto hims stomach, pulled to his knees. Oh Jesus this is really happening.
